Every bride dreams of walking down the aisle with confidence, radiating beauty from the inside out. Yet, achieving that dreamy glow isn't just about the right makeup; it begins much earlier, with dedicated care and love for your skin. Understanding this, we've gathered wisdom from top industry experts to create a guide that ensures your journey to the altar is marked by self-care and glowing results.

From hydration heroes to the secret of consistent care, these insights are your roadmap to a luminous complexion on your wedding day and beyond. Here's what the pros have to say about mastering your pre-wedding skincare routine:

Foundation for Makeup Magic

Makeup artists can certainly work magic, but remember it starts at the base. Prioritizing a skin care regimen aimed at achieving what you hope for your wedding day skin, will only enhance your makeup that day. Consider asking your makeup artists for some tips specific to your skin type and goals during your makeup trial. – Elizabeth Lutz, Elizabeth Lutz Boutique Design & Event Planning

The Early Bird Glows

Start early and plan ahead for the most glowing skin on your wedding day, as in as soon as you get engaged! Consult a dermatologist to get the best personalized tips for your skin including specific products to use for acne, hydration, facials, and other extras like Botox and fillers if desired. – Valarie Falvey, Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design

Hydration is Your Best Friend

Keeping your skin moisturized isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling good too. Well-hydrated skin means a more vibrant, youthful appearance on your big day and beyond. – Elizabeth M. Kane, Bridal Musings

Pore-fection through Facials

Skincare has become a major topic for discussion over the past few years, especially when it comes to prepping for your wedding day! First up, remember: Facials facials facials! It is recommended to start prepping your skin about 6-9 months before the wedding. – Lisa Nightingale, Infinite Events

Consistency is Key

A skincare routine isn't a sprint; it's a marathon. The efforts you put in months before your wedding pay off when you walk down the aisle. It's about building habits that last a lifetime, not just for a day. – Elizabeth M. Kane, Bridal Musings

Photo: Love Me Do Photography Handkerchief: The Handkerchief Shop Crest Design: SarahMLevyDesigns

Sun Smart

Keep your sunblock routine, rain or shine! As we know, the sun can cause damage and dark spots, so make sure to lather up every day pre-wedding! – Lisa Nightingale, Infinite Events

Invest in Your Skin's Health

Your skin's health is an investment. Think of your pre-wedding skincare as the first gift you give to yourself as you start this new chapter. It's not just for the wedding day but for the journey ahead. – Elizabeth M. Kane, Bridal Musings

All-Over Glow

Your elbows and knees may also take center stage on your wedding day, so make sure to use exfoliants or salt scrubs months prior to getting married for an all-over skin glow! – Lisa Nightingale, Infinite Events

Trendy Yet Timeless

If you want to look your best the day of your wedding, it's crucial to start the prep before the big day. Especially because makeup trends have leaned more towards a no-makeup makeup look for brides, you want to make sure your skin is looking its best! – Kari Dirksen, CEO & Lead Planner, Feathered Arrow Events

Bridal Beauty Bag

Sometimes it's hard to keep up your beauty routine when you are on the go. A bridal-ready cosmetic bag will help keep you organized and on track for your big day! – Colleen, The Handkerchief Shop

Photo: Brogen Jessup Photography Planning: Feathered Arrow Events

Stress and Skin

Pre-wedding skincare is one of the most important things to prioritize as a bride for their wedding day. Leading up to the wedding day can cause stress, which can cause breakouts. – Casey Stamouli, Owner & Lead Planner, Casey & Co. Events

The Ultimate Prep

Prepping for your big day means more than just the day-of. It's about creating a canvas that reflects your inner beauty and confidence. Embrace the journey to your wedding day with a skincare regimen that celebrates you. – Elizabeth M. Kane, Bridal Musings

Integrating these insights into your pre-wedding routine will not only ensure you look radiant on your big day but also foster habits that will benefit your skin for years to come. It's about taking care of yourself, reducing stress, and making your wellbeing a priority. Your wedding day is just the beginning of a beautiful journey, and starting it with confidence in your skin sets the tone for the beautiful chapters to come.

20 Gorgeous Hairstyles for Bridesmaids https://bridalmusings.com/91344/20-gorgeous-hairstyles-for-bridesmaids/ https://bridalmusings.com/91344/20-gorgeous-hairstyles-for-bridesmaids/#respond Thu, 25 Feb 2016 14:00:44 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=91344 It's Bridesmaid Week here at Bridal Musings, so we've been adding a few posts to our schedule all about the girls who'll stand by your side on your big day.

So far this week, we've talked boho styling, unique or uniform dresses, and what it's like not to have a bridal party at all.

And today, it's all about the hair!

Bridesmaid Hairstyles | Bridal Musings Wedding Blog 6

As with the dresses, you can choose to go as uniform or unique as you like for your bridesmaids' hair.

Some brides love the idea (and ease) of all their girls looking the same lined up in a row, while for others, they'd rather let their friends rock their own looks (especially if your bridesmaids have different hair types or lengths).

The most important thing though is to chat with your friends about how they'd like to wear their hair, and what they'll be most comfortable with.

While you may dream of a line of long mermaid braids or stiff buns, it's not fair to pressure your friends into growing/cutting/dying/straightening their hair for your wedding day vision. Adapt their gorgeous, natural locks into a look you'll both love.

While brides themselves often err on the side of caution with classic style, bridesmaids can be a bit more creative and playful with their looks, with plaits, flowers, pony-tails or half-up styles. Be sure the look you pick is something your hairstylist will have time to do (especially if you have several bridesmaids).

To help you decide, we've rounded up 20 gorgeous bridesmaid hairstyles for inspiration – we bet there's at least one your ladies will love…

Short hair is chic, stylish and easy to manage…except, perhaps, when you're getting married.

Too short to wear up, not long enough to wear down, it can be quite the bridal conundrum.

But, that doesn't mean you have to start growing out your hair the minute to clap eyes on your engagement ring. In fact, our Editor Claire Eliza went out of her way to cut her long locks into a short bridal bob for her wedding day!

If your short do is part of your personal style, then make it work for you on your wedding day.

Look to celebrities who work their own versatile bobs, (Julianne Hough, Fearne Cotton, Marion Cotillard, and January Jones all work their bobs in lots of different styles), for ways to work your bob into some seriously stylish shapes.

From a sexy tousled look to retro set curls, sleek blowouts to sweet hair accessories, the list of ways you can style your ‘do is literally, longer than your hair!

Bridal bobs can be just as versatile as mid-length hair, you just have to think outside the box.

Lucky for you, we've found 30 show-stopping manes, to give you a little hair-spiration…

So chic!

It makes me want to cut my waist-long hair straight off.  (*Note to self, it didn't work the last time, DON'T do it again!).

I'm particularly fond of the bouffant, and just a simple sleek blow-dry. But I love the idea of adding ribbons, flowers and accessories to your short ‘do too.

Best of Bridal Fashion Week: Backstage Beauty & Marchesa Wedding Dresses https://bridalmusings.com/84909/best-of-bridal-fashion-week-backstage-beauty-marchesa-wedding-dresses/ https://bridalmusings.com/84909/best-of-bridal-fashion-week-backstage-beauty-marchesa-wedding-dresses/#comments Tue, 20 Oct 2015 11:00:59 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=84909 Today is the second instalment in our NYC Bridal Fashion Week coverage, and this one is a real treat.

We were so lucky to be invited to the Marchesa showcase while we were in New York. And while we were expecting something pretty special from couture designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, these gowns were even more spectacular in person, than we'd imagined.

Held in Canoe Studios (where Beyonce's Love on Top video was shot!), overlooking the Hudson and basked in the evening sun (New York has the best sunsets!) the models stood on pedestals dotted around the space, like beautiful real life mannequins.

It was a pretty gorgeous sight.

Marchesa, Backstage, Bridal Fall 2016, October 2015

From the achingly detailed textures, to the most divine silhouettes, Marchesa's gowns did not disappoint, with creations that were every bit as jaw-dropping as they look in the pictures (even more so, in fact!)

And with glistening hair accessories, sparkling jewellery, and super chic hair and make-up, even if your budget won't stretch to a couture wedding dress, we've lots of inspiration from behind-the-scenes too.

Marchesa, Backstage, Bridal Fall 2016, October 2015

About the Collection

Marchesa Bridal Fall 16 introduces an allure of featherlight elements coming together to embody the collection’s ethereal essence.

Cascading layers of illusion lace are gracefully paired with sheer, open-backs and cut-out details, creating such an airy feeling they seem to blur the lines between dreams and reality.

Lightweight boning and exposed ribbon corsetry add a subtle dash of drama to tiered ruffles and metallic-threaded Chantilly lace.

New necklines are artfully bejeweled while detachable skirts feature softly pleated tulle and lace sculpted peplums.

Lavishly embroidered cut-away along with delicate lace and ladder trim details adorn opulent ballgowns of the most romantic nature.

The dresses are just spectacular, but I do love seeing all the prep that goes on behind the scenes too.

And how glamorous are designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig? As such an iconic red carpet brand, I'd assumed Marchesa had been around for years, but these talented ladies only set it up in 2004 – wow!

Marchesa wedding dresses are priced from $10,600 (£7000), and available from stockists worldwide. For more information, visit the Marchesa website.

Best of Bridal Fashion Week: Marchesa Wedding Dress Collection S/S 2017 https://bridalmusings.com/94172/marchesa-wedding-dress/ https://bridalmusings.com/94172/marchesa-wedding-dress/#comments Mon, 18 Apr 2016 08:00:56 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=94172 Bridal Fashion Week kicked off in New York at the weekend, with catwalks, showcases, and private viewings of some of the most exciting bridal collections on the planet.

While we couldn't be in NYC in person this time (sobs into my very English cup of tea), we've still got the inside scoop on all the big trends, beautiful dresses and fabulous accessories, and every day this week, we'll be treating you guys to one of our favourite collections.

So, we're kicking things off with one of the most glorious bridal collections, one that thrills us every season with its luxe textures, divine jewellery, and dramatic designs.

And for Spring/Summer 2017, Marchesa certainly didn't disappoint.

Sticking to the sun-drenched venue of Canoe Studios on the Hudson, where we saw their last collection in October, Marchesa designers, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, upped the ante with their latest showcase, with romantic florals, the softest tulles, and most glorious necklines.

My favourite thing about this collection though has to be all that decadent jewellery. Pearls, crystals, and tassels? I'm in love!

Scroll down to get a behind the scenes look of this incredible collection, but first up, read a bit more about the inspiration behind it…

About the Collection

Marchesa SS17 Bridal Collection is a journey through a regal, enchanted garden with flourishing rosebuds and blossoming florals emerging just as the morning sun rises.

Glistening crystals and pearls against sleek bodices and ethereal gowns are reminiscent of morning mist atop of petals in a wildflower meadow.

Springtime buds in rosy ombres and dip-dyed blushes are blooming in layered tiers and ruffles over silk organza. Lightweight tulles in sheer blush and nude tones are subtly placed beneath ball gowns.

Silk satin ribbons add a majestic touch to seductively cinched waists and revealing peek-a-boo cut-outs.

Ornate embroideries of 3D organza roses and hand-cut petals flourish over detachable skirts and peplums as French Chantilly and corded lace are gracefully set against plunging necklines.

So stunning! Just imagine wearing a gown like that for your big day. That jewellery is fabulous, and I love the soft, feminine touches across the collection, so beautiful.

And that's only the start of it, we'll be sharing more collections throughout the week, so keep your eyes peeled for more breathtaking gowns from Bridal Fashion Week.

Trend Alert: Top Knot Hair Styles for Your Wedding (for both brides and grooms) https://bridalmusings.com/86447/trend-alert-top-knot-hair-styles-for-your-wedding-for-both-brides-and-grooms/ https://bridalmusings.com/86447/trend-alert-top-knot-hair-styles-for-your-wedding-for-both-brides-and-grooms/#comments Mon, 16 Nov 2015 09:00:27 +0000 http://bridalmusings.com/?p=86447 A top knot might be your go-to messy up-do for between shampoos, but it can also be a gorgeous hairstyle for your wedding.

As more and more brides and grooms create looks that feel more authentic than over-done for their big day, a more polished take your everyday style, has never been more chic.

And leading the way is a top knot – an off-duty staple, that looks not just cool and relaxed, but when added to a white dress or sharp suit, can also be playful, romantic and timeless.

A hairstyle that's worn a little messier, and higher up on your head, than the average ballerina bun, the top knot has developed from its off-duty model origins, to the ever-hot man bun variety for grooms, and a super trendy half-up half-down take on the look too.

Still don't believe us that this scruffy style is special enough for your wedding day? We've put together a few ideas to prove the top knot is for more than just the days you're late for work.

Oh and don't forget to pin your favourites…
