It wasn’t long ago our own design team was in Austin creating a tropical technicolor dream. Filled with neon lights, retro facades & funky design, the Texas capital has so much to offer for the color-loving bride.

So, we were delighted to see this wedding inspiration from Austin’s Blanton Museum catering to Pantone’s 2020 color of the year: Classic Blue! With blue ombre walls, contrasting terracotta orange, and vibrant decor, this museum wedding scene is perfect for the artsy couple looking to escape from the summer Texas heat.

Led by planner Blue Sparrow Events, the team put together this wedding inspiration that played off both the venue’s gorgeous ombre walls, but the art gallery theme as well. Using lucite chairs and florals displayed in clear gallery boxes, the decor capitalizes on museum wedding vibes.

From Blue Sparrow Events

Brace yourself for this editorial shoot which fused the extreme opposites. Desert dryness mixed with an ocean landscape is displayed in this minimal and earthy design. The Blanton Museum of Art (in downtown Austin, Texas) inspired the articulated wildness design of this shoot. The blue interior walls by artist Teresita Fernández, also known as “Stacked Waters”, heavily influenced this soft yet bold, minimalistic wedding design certain to make any art-aficionado sure to swoon.

A team of local creatives came together to transform and breathe life to this scene. Penelope L’amore Photography captured the unrefined, sunset coastal vibes effortlessly.

The grainy and abstract floral art designed by Abbie with Blumen Floral mimicked unstructured nature growing at the bottom of the sea, accented with the earth-tone colors and hues of a dry, sandy desert.

The Dress & Beauty

The ruffles that mimic ocean waves trickled down the minimal, yet feminine Alexandra Grecco gown from Unbridaled. Jessica Roop Beauty created a stunning makeover to highlight dewy skin, glowy cheeks and sunset-inspired eyes complement the colors within the bridal bouquet.

Vanna Van Oss with Blue Sparrow Events planned and created the overall design concept and bridal styling of the shoot. Bridal accessories included edgy, gold Rebecca Minkoff earrings, a chunky suede sandal lifted by a bold, pearlescent wrapped heel, and a coordinating pearl engagement ring complimented the heels and the “Stacked Waters” finishing on the walls.

The Tabletop Decor

Tabletop design and styling began at Monarch Event Rentals. We selected a Panama natural table linen in “sand” and coordinated it with their Velo gold + grey flatware. The look was completed with yellow dinnerware from CB2 and a hemstitch napkin folded triangularly to mix sharp points against the soft edges of the round plates.

The Stationery

The stationery design by Little Duck Calligraphy played into the artfulness of the Blanton Museum of Art. Penelope L’amore styled and photographed the flat-lays to enhance the designs of the stationary, paired with the selection of the accessories and the unique dried stems chosen by Abbie with Blumen Floral.

The Cake

The cake was displayed in a museum-style fashion. Three white columns combined with a clear acrylic cake stand and florals styled by Melody’s Joy was a real treat for the eyes. Danae with Feathers + Frosting took a monochromatic approach with the cake design, mimicking the Stacked Waters of the museum walls.
