This floral-filled Pelican Hill wedding is about as close to a modern-day fairytale as can be.

Taking place high above Malibu overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this California wedding day seems to take place in a cloud. With Greek pillars and blossoming cherry trees made even more magnificent with boosts of floral adornments, one might even say it’s set in the heavens!

Pelican Hill, of course, is a beloved wedding venue of ours – and many others – having featured a few others in the past. While its immaculate grounds result in outrageously beautiful weddings every time, we’re particularly awestruck by the towering, blooming cherry blossom trees that seem to grow out of the wedding aisle. We’re expecting this creative floral feat designed by florist Enchanted Express and no doubt aided by planner A Good Affair is about to be a frequent floral request across the wedding-sphere.

Our Love Story

Tiffany always dreamt of a wedding in Los Angeles because that’s where the spark really started.

The two of us were playing a random guessing game while at a beach bonfire and that’s when we truly got to know each other. We met in college and started dating over Skype when Keegan was interning in New York while Tiffany was in Hong Kong. Long-distance has always been weaved into our relationship and many, many hours were spent Skyping each other late into the night just talking about how their day went. Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

Since then we have been pretty much inseparable – traveling and living in different cities and countries has been challenging yet rewarding. Keegan proposed at a quiet spot at Eze, France and we’ll never forget that perfect moment overlooking the ocean as we made that promise of a lifetime.

The Planning

With so many guests coming from overseas and across the US, we wanted to make the day memorable. We made one trip from Hong Kong to look for a venue and fell deeply in love with the romantic setting of Pelican Hill. That was where we also found A Good Affair and we knew they would be the perfect choice to help create the perfect wedding. We wanted the wedding to be elegant but not overdone.

The team at A Good Affair introduced us to amazing vendors who matched our vision perfectly! Brett and his photography team and One Story Weddings’ videography team were both super sweet and we loved how they captured all the special moments.

The Decor & Florals

From the get-go, we wanted to stay with a soft blush palette and Nisie of Enchanted Express brought in her signature cherry blossom trees and decorated the venue to perfection.

Favorite Moments

Getting to say our vows overlooking the ocean was very important to us and we’re so glad we could share a piece of Los Angeles with our guests. We chose Saturday, February 29th (leap day!) just to make it a bit more special. How often do we get to spend an extra day in the year with those we love the most?

Advice to Other Couples

Have a set-but-slightly flexible budget with all must-have items in mind. If there is something you really want for the wedding, don’t be afraid to splurge a little if your budget allows! Remember that it is one day in your life and if you feel it is important, go for it.

Also, keeping your partner involved in the process helps take away some of the stress and can even make the process fun! We 110% recommend all the vendors we worked with and would recommend them to friends and family in a heartbeat.

On the big day, make sure you are taking in all the small moments you can. Entrust your bridesmaids and groomsmen to help you! The day flies by so make sure you eat some of that food if you plan on drinking champagne and alcohol. But most importantly, just enjoy your special day and share the love with all your guests.

The Honeymoon…to come

Unfortunately, COVID-19 put a halt to all our travel plans and we hope to be able to travel to Japan or Europe when we can again. In the meantime, we’ll take all the small local trips we can take!
