Stunning Bohemian Morocco Desert Wedding Inspiration

Roberta Facchini stuns. Whether it be her grand & luxurious editorial in Marrakech or this dreamy bohemian scene in Desert d’Agafay, whenever we get an email with new inspiration from the destination wedding photographer we are giddy with excitement.

Ever-more were we elated to find that Roberta & her incredible team styled this shoot at the very same luxury desert camp I photographed one of my very favorite real elopements years ago. La Pause, as one can see, is stunning. A small group of luxury tents & chalets are carefully placed between the hills of Desert d’Agafay, giving a couple the ultimate privacy & once-in-a-lifetime Moroccan experience.

This shoot shows off the best of what you could style in such a stunning location. Moroccan rugs and floral altar adorned with eucalyptus and roses is set just steps away from a luxurious & airy bridal suite. Colorfully clad tents are set with Moroccan poufs, tea & settings for a scrumptious dinner (I’ve had it – the tagine is so wonderful!)

There’s no doubt you’ll be picturing yourselves running away to the hills of Marrakech after seeing this, and we don’t blame you.

From Charlotte of La Fête

This is a very special shoot for me as it took place in Marrakech, Morocco where I have been going on holiday since I was a child. The desert is one of my favourite places and has always been a place that I found full of mystery and beauty. There is a natural beauty and rawness to Morocco that many people find spellbinding, myself included. In this shoot I wanted to showcase how you can combine traditional and modern Morocco, using the stunning natural light and beautiful colours and scenery that is so unique to the country. The colour inspiration for this shoot is earth tones, metallics and patterns that are traditional to Morocco.

With her experience as a destination wedding photographer, her romantic style, amazing use of light and natural talent, Roberta Facchini was an easy choice for photography. Shooting in the desert and with the camel was the highlight of her trip. We had the most gorgeous, dreamy light, perfect for Roberta’s style of photography.

The Dress & Attire

We were lucky enough to have two beautiful wedding gowns for this shoot, one from Galia Lahav that was absolutely jaw-dropping, especially when our bride was on the camel! It caught the sunlight and shimmered in an unbelievable way. The other gown was from Katya Katya, a light bohemian-styled French laced gown that embraced the beautiful surroundings in an almost dream-like state.

Harriet Wilde supplied us with the most gorgeous and ornate bridal shoes that fit the brief perfectly, and London Victorian Ring generously lent me a stunning sparkler that I guarded with my life whilst we were out there!

Hair & Makeup

For the hair and makeup, Eva Couturier was my first choice. I had been avidly following her work and admiring her ability to deliver both amazing makeup looks and unique up-dos, she didn’t disappoint! Her knowledge of Moroccan style allowed her to beautify the model and be in total harmony with the theme.

Floral Design

Yassab Floral Design, based in Marrakech, is one of the most amazing florists based in Marrakech, so she had to be the one that would bring this shoot floral brilliance! She delivered gorgeous pastel and leafy touches that brought some elements of life to the harshness of the desert.

Stationery

With her beautiful and bespoke stationery, Sinead from Papergrace created for the shoot a bespoke handmade torn paper with gold leafing set. Paired with pastel tones and elegant calligraphy it worked so well for the elegant, boho ‘Queen of the Dessert’ vibe.

The Cake

I knew in my mind that I needed an absolutely unique cake to be created for this shoot. My first and only choice really was to approach Elizabeth from Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium to create a bespoke design. Taking inspiration from our mood board, Elizabeth created a six-tier pillow cake to mimic the reclining cushions commonly found in the setting of a Bedouin tent. Using traditional Moroccan geometric patterns, each tier featured individually hand cut motifs made from sugar. Rich old-gold and white were the main colours used on the cake and this combination worked perfectly and brought a touch of luxury to the shoot.

Videography

Alessandro Bordoni is an incredibly talented videographer that has been capturing weddings across the world in the most magical way. I approached him knowing that he would be the best person to portray this unique shoot. Alessandro was a true professional, filming nonstop the various elements and talking with our “bride and groom”. He joked around with them in order to get that intimacy and feeling in the shoot that he always achieves in his films.
