Romantic & Rustic Food-Filled Wedding In Tuscany

It’s our last day in Tuscany! Some of you may know Jack & I have been on a yearlong honeymoon and spent the last month in Florence – giving me plenty of reason to gush over so many beautiful Tuscan weddings (did you see this Siena stunner last week?!)

Today’s real wedding from our friend Facibeni Fotografia features one of the best (and most obvious, in my opinion) reasons to get married in the Italian countryside – the food. Bride Laura being Italian herself, and Groom Tim clearly having an admiration of all things Italian took great care in planning their Tuscan menu.

Hiring a local, family-run caterer, the couple included Tuscan fare, local berries for their incredible naked wedding cake & the cutest gelato cart that I think – we all need.

True to their exchange of cultures, the destination couple also included details from their current home & meeting place – London. The best & most beautiful example? Laura’s feminine embellished Jenny Packham gown & veil previously worn by Tim’s mother & sister.

Our Love Story

We met in the library at law school and immediately shared a connection. Our first conversation was actually more of a debate, and we were impressed at each other’s ability to keep the other one on their toes!

Tim proposed to me on the garden square in London where we live; it was a cold winter’s evening illuminated by Christmas lights and was just perfect.

The Destination & Venue

As an English and Italian couple, we knew we wanted our wedding in Tuscany where we often spend our summers and, for us, embodies romance. We live in London and wanted the wedding to be a fun, week-long gathering abroad to unite our family and friends from all over the world. The villa we chose had all the elements we were looking for; rustic yet elegant, surrounded by nature and with a timeless sense of Italian beauty.

The Wedding Vendors

Our vendors were sourced both locally and from London. True to our exchange of cultures, Tim’s suit was made by Boggi (Italian) and my dress was from Jenny Packham (England)!

We were keen to let the venue and gardens speak for itself and stuck to greens, whites and hints of blush for warmth. We chose our photographer (Facibeni) early on as he knows the area well and could capture the special lighting that is unique to this part of the world.

Food and drink were key for us, so after many fun tastings, we hired a family-run caterer to prepare the wedding menu based on local ingredients, including freshly picked mountain berries for our wedding cake!

The little touches were also important for us; my veil was worn by Tim’s mother and sister on their wedding days and the Orders of Service were made by my mother, who is a painter.

Favorite Moments

So many highlights spring to mind! Having all our friends and family in one place felt surreal. Our priest, who was flown in from England and is fabulously eccentric. Singing The Beatles’ “Let it Be” for our final wedding hymn and our first dance, which we had practiced so many times in our kitchen that we actually were able to completely relax and enjoy. We especially loved the ice-cream cart and classic Italian swing band, which made it also feel like a celebration of summer!

Advice to Other Couples

I had heard this so many times before planning our wedding, but my biggest piece of advice is to just enjoy the day and not worry if something doesn’t go to plan.

The important thing is your love for each other and everything else is secondary! Also, keep DIY to one or two things only if you can; you will be so busy in that last week that it’s important to have some time to focus on yourself.

The Honeymoon

We flew to Tanzania on safari the day after our wedding. We had the most incredible time and I would totally recommend it as a honeymoon destination!
